2. QuickBooks Windows 2008 - PIN Change Issue
Issue
New Online Banking account setup fails when prompted to change PIN number.
What is happening
When setting up a new Online Banking account for a financial institution that requires a PIN change during the signup process, QuickBooks 2008 does not provide access to the page to input the new PIN number.
Some financial institutions include a temporary PIN number with the welcome paperwork provided for new online account setup.
During the account setup process, QuickBooks connects with the financial institution, which then sends a response back requiring a PIN number change.
QuickBooks is not presenting the page that allows the user to change the PIN number and complete the online account setup process.
Why is this happening
The cause of this situation has been identified and a solution will be deployed with the next product update.
Target release timeframe is mid-December 2007.
Detailed Instructions
One option is to complete the account activation process using QuickBooks 2005, 2006 or 2007, by creating a new company file and completing the account setup process.
These products will present the page for changing the PIN.
Once the account has been created and the new PIN assigned, go back to QuickBooks 2008 and complete the account setup process using the new PIN.

3. QuickBooks Windows 2008 - New FI List Update Deployment Issue
Issue
New functionality in QuickBooks Windows (QBW) 2008 uses a FI Directory file (FIDIR) for the first time.
Between 8/29/07 when the Manufacturing Release was created and the release 3 (R3) patch which is currently expected in late December 2007, new financial institutions (FIs) or FIs adding Direct Connect for the first time will not be in the FIDIR and therefore, not supported. This means end users will not be able to use QBW 2008 version to download transactions. They can however download from your financial institution on QBW 2005 - 2007.
Workaround
Direct Connect only FIs: There is no workaround for end users until R3 is released.
Web Connect only FIs: New end users starting with QBW 2008 should download directly from the FI's website and export data into QuickBooks until R3 is released. They should not create their online banking account from within QBW 2008.
Direct Connect and Web Connect FIs: New end users starting with QBW 2008 should download directly from the FI's website and export data into QuickBooks until R3 is released. They should not create their online banking account from within QBW 2008. End users can then convert from Web Connect to Direct Connect by deactivating their accounts from Online Services and then reactivating under Direct Connect.
